July 21
We were up early and packed up our tent in Berchesgaten just as the rain started. We left Germany and headed out through Austria. Our drive though Austria was about 3 hours long, we were on the main highways around the big cities of Salzburg and Linz. We didn’t stop in either one because we were on the way to the Czech Republic. There were many many long tunnels on the highway – we try to hold our breathe as we go through them but there was one that was 4.5 km long!! I thought Liam would pass out from holding his breath!!
We got into the Czech Republic and we are camping for the next two nights in a cabin at a campground called Nova Spoli on the shores of the Vltava river in Cesky Krumlov. Tomorrow we are going to be going on an amazing river rafting trip! I can’t wait.
This afternoon we walked into the old town of Cesky Krumlov. It is a medieval town that was full of ancient history. We walked through the old castle.
We stopped in a few stores – one was called Candy Castle! My mom said we could pick out some candy – the boys got huge candy snakes and I got a marshmallow rope!!
After we walked around the old streets – we saw many buildings built in the early 1600’s. Wow – I didn’t know they even made buildings that old.
We walked for a long time in the hot sun and my parents stopped for a cold beer (The original Budweiser – Budvar) and we got ice creams!
Another great day – can’t wait until tomorrow!!

Today we got up. The bunk beds were very conferrable. We hade an amazing breakfast of scrambled eggs and Nutella toast.
We are going in a big boat and going down the Vltava River. It is going to be an amazing trip. It will take us about 4 to 5 hours. There is going to be 5 chutes. At 9:30 we got in our boat and went down the river.
We were at our 1st chute. The 1st chute was a 45 degree angle. It was super fun. At the bottom there was a huge wave.
The 2nd chute was very steep, it was super fun!!! The 3rd chute was very narrow and we bumped in to the wall.
The 4th was very fast. We travelled though the down town of Cesky Krumlov, it was a beautiful journey through the town, we floated beside the castle and under bridges and past restaurants.
Then we stopped for lunch at a river side bbq grill stop.
They had some cute goats in a pen. We had sausages and smoked ribs – Dad said the smoked ribs were incredible!!
We paddled for 4 hours. It was a bit slow but long. That part of the river had no houses, it was all beautiful trees and rock cliffs.
Finally we made it to the last chute. It was a really fun chute. It was the longest one with big waves at the end. The place were we took the raft of was just past the last chute.
After we got on the bus and went back. What an amazing way to end the day.
Having so much fun and missing you all!
Love Tia and Mari
