July 13 2019 Today we woke up and it was really raining again!! There was another huge lightening storm. When the rain was over we packed up camp and left. We had a long car drive and had to stop for some shopping at Decathalon and groceries. We picked up a table and chairs as well as some extra sleeping bags because it has been so cold. We got back into the car and drove to a Castle. It was a huge castle on the top of the highest hill in the area. It was called Hohenzollen Castle. It was rebuilt many times, but the castle that was there today was finished in the 1800’s. The Kings of Prussia have lived in that castle since the 1600’s.

It was a really long hike to the top of the castle, but the hike was worth it. The view was incredible!

We drove on afterward and came to our campsite for the next few days. The headwaters of the mighty Danube river.

Here in Germany it is a small river called the Danou. The Campsite is called Wagnburg. It is a beautiful area that has rock cliffs all around. It was a very busy campsite and we squeezed our tent in between some other cars. I went with dad and we got some homemade wood fired pizza. It was delicious. July 14 2019 Today we woke up and it was a beautiful day. The rocky cliffs around our campsite were beautiful and the birds were singing. We had awesome chocolate waffles for breakfast!!

We packed up our bags and hiked up a huge trail. It was 7km long. The first part of the trail was beautiful. We walked along a biking trail to the bridge over the river. Then we crossed the bridge, road and train tracks and hiked up the huge cliffs to the top where there was a huge castle. In the castles fields they kept Red deer. We could only see them from far away. We couldn’t go into the castle because people still live in the castle. The castle was first built in 1200’s but the castle that is there today was finished in 1800’s. We hiked down the trail. When we got to the bottom, we had a big lunch.

Another great day in Germany!
